DENTAL CAMPS 2022
Super Tooth Rescue Mission was organized by APDSA at Aisha Islamic Orphanage, Karachi on the 14th of September 2022. In collaboration with the Community Dentistry Department, Dow Dental College. The activity aimed to reach out to the young citizens of the society and teach them the importance of Oral Health and preventative measures. A total of 60+ children of age between 5-15 years were taught about proper brushing techniques furthermore, interactive activities were carried out and the participants were taught and given awareness on preventing caries.
On Wednesday, 26th October 2022, a Free Dental Camp and Oral Hygiene Awareness session named "Mending Minds with Sparkling Smiles" was held at ACELP Institute of Child Development for children with Down's Syndrome. The event was organized by the Asia Pacific Dental Student Association - Pakistan Division, in collaboration with the Community and Preventive Dentistry department of Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences. Mariyam Iqbal, National Assistant to the President in the Center, spearheaded the event. The camp's goal was to create awareness about practices of maintaining good oral hygiene by engaging them in various fun and educational activities and providing them with free dental checkups.
On World Oral Health Day, APDSA Pakistan and Islamic International Dental College collaborated to host a series of Dental camps aimed at benefiting children with special needs. These camps took place in four distinct schools dedicated to the rehabilitation of children facing physical and intellectual disabilities. More than 150 children underwent screenings and were presented with oral hygiene kits, generously provided by Colgate. Prior to the events, volunteers received training, enabling them to conduct informative sessions on oral hygiene awareness for caretake.
Smile Like a Champ, Dental Camp-Lahore Chapter was organized by Director Events and Projects committee Amna Usman in Al Assar Public School Gurumangat Gulberg 3. Dental Checkup of 150 students under the age of 14 was done by 30 Volunteers (Senior dental students and house Officers from Institute of Dentistry CMH Lahore Medical College and FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry Lahore).
Our worthy sponsor Colgate provided a basic Oral Care kit to the students. The camp was supervised and facilitated by Prof. Dr. Arham Nawaz Chohan.
Smile Like a Champ Dental Camp was organized under the patronage of APDSA at SIRAAT UL JANNAH ORPHANAGE, Clifton Karachi. The event was organized under the supervision of Associate Events and Projects Director APDSA Pakistan, Dr. Rimsha Khan. Dental checkup of 120 children was done and Oral Hygiene Awareness Sessions were conducted. Shield and Platinum were the key sponsors of the project.
DENTAL CAMPS 2023
Rehman college of dentistry in collaboration with APDSA Pakistan celebrated World Oral Health Day,
under supervision of Dr Aimal khan, faculty from periodontology department and Dr Bushra jahan along
with her Organizing team Dr Warda Israr and Dr Ammar Salah ud din, by arranging an awareness session
on oral hygiene and free dental camp at Special Education Complex for Special children Hayatabad
Peshawar. The camp was sponsored by Colgate Pakistan.
BETTER TEETH, BETTER HEALTH FREE DENTAL CAMP (At HITEC):
In honor of World Oral Health Day 2023, the APDSA Pakistan Division in collaboration with Dr Aniqa Tahir Liaison Officer HITEC IMS Dental College, arranged a free dental camp at Nasheman School for Special Education and Rehabilitation in Wah Cantt. The target group for this event were children with hearing impairments, visual impairments, and intellectual disabilities who are more susceptible to oral problems due to communication barriers.
The event started with an oral hygiene awareness session conducted by volunteers. After the session, the children were provided with free dental checkups. The main aim of the camp was to provide basic education regarding dental health and motivate the children to maintain their oral hygiene
.At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the volunteers, and oral hygiene kits were distributed among the children. The kits were sponsored by Colgate Pakistan.
Overall, the event was a great success in raising awareness about oral health among children with disabilities and providing them with the necessary knowledge and tools to maintain their oral hygiene
ORAL HEALTH FOR EVERYONE
Asia Pacific Dental Students Association -Pakistan Division in collaboration with the Liaison officer of Rehman College of Dentistry. Bushra Jahan organized a dental camp "Oral Health For Everyone" in honour of World Oral Health Day 2023. The camp was held on 17th and 18th March at the Special Education Complex Hayatabad Peshawar.
On the 17th of March '23, an oral hygiene session was delivered to the parents of disabled children to help maintain their kids' oral hygiene. The session aimed to educate parents on basic oral hygiene practices to help their children achieve good ora health.
The camp provided dental checkups to over 200 special children. The event was sponsored by Colgate Pakistan, which provided the students of the school with basic oral hygiene kits and oral hygiene charts. The dental camp aimed to promote oral health and hygiene among special children, who often receive inadequate dental care.
Overall, the dental camp "Oral Health For Everyone" was a success in promoting oral health and hygiene among special children. The event provided parents and students with valuable information on basic oral hygiene practices, and the dental checkups helped identify and address any oral health issues.
On 15 April 2023 Saturday, A Dental camp was arranged in Bali memorial trust orphanage Shadman Lahore for almost 45 to 50 kids under the supervision of Dr Asim Riaz(Faculty Pattern FMH APDSA Pakistan) 19 Volunteers (House Officers of FMH College of medicine and Dentistry) participated within this camp. The commencement of this camp was done with the basic dental check-up in which the required examination and diagnosis of the respective dental diseases were done and for the desired treatment referral was done to FMH college of medicine and Dentistry. After the basic Dental Check-up hampers sponsored by Colgate were distributed among the kids. After the examination and diagnosis awareness session about the oral health was done via the brushing models and power point presentations accordingly.
Group of 15 dental students led an awareness program focusing on dental care and hygiene at Mera Ghar Orphanage specifically for children from ages 4-16 years. The camp consisted of an interactive session emphasizing the significance of maintaining good dental hygiene. Additionally, an experiment was conducted to demonstrate the effects of sugar on plaque formation. The children were educated on proper dental care practices, with a particular emphasis on the correct brushing technique. To conclude the event, the children enjoyed engaging in enjoyable activities such as face painting and participating in a quiz on good and bad foods. Furthermore, goody bags sponsored by Colgate were distributed to the children.
Breaking Free from Addiction, One Smile at a Time! Our Liaison Officer Bushra Jahan along with her team Ammar Salahuddin and Ijaz Baseer under the supervision of Dr. Aimal from Rehman College of Dentistry in collaboration with Asia Pacific Dental Students Association and Colgate Pakistan, organized a transformative Dental Camp for individuals on the path to recovery from drug addiction.
SMILE ON THE GO
APDSA in collaboration with Islamic International Dental College organised a series of dental camps for children with special needs. The camps titled "Smile on the Go" were held at 3 institutes at 3 different locations of Islamabad.First camp held at Dewa Insitute,Second camp at Child Development Centre and Third camp at Stl Child Development Centre.Where we screened around 130 children with hearing and intellectual disabilities. The effort was in honour of World Oral Health Day 2023, a mutually beneficial effort to promote good oral hygiene practices amongst children and their caregivers and sensitise dentists to the needs of an underserved population.

It was a single day event where around 350 patients were screened in total

DENTAL CAMPS 2024
On the 28th of November, a pivotal dental camp, spearheaded by the liaison officer SIOHS and a proficient organizing committee of 5 members, unfolded at Hayat -ul- Islam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 30 individuals, achieving an extensive outreach by providing dental check-ups to nearly 60 patients.

A dental camp was organized by hitec college of dentistry with a primary focus on promoting good oral hygiene practices among school children. It aimed to spread awareness about common dental issues such as caries, calculus deposition, TMJ problems, and the need for orthodontic treatment.

I, Sabeka Khan, APDSA Liaison Officer of Dow International Dental College along with my esteemed college council was fortunate enough to organize a Dental Camp and an Awareness Session for the prestigious kids of Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) entitled as "Tooth Fairy to the Rescue" on 26th December, 2023
The event started off with KDSP providing us an Awareness Session on Down Syndrome and how to cater them in OPDs, Followed by a brief Dental Hygiene Awareness Session which was provided to the patients as well as their parents and caretakers.
The Session comprised of normal structure and decaying of tooth, brushing and flossing techniques and benefits of maintaining good hygiene.
Several educative and fun activities were planned and executed that kept the kids more inclined towards the event.
After they were done with their dental check-ups, they were provided with dental kits containing toothbrushes and toothpastes, fostering personal commitment to oral hygiene.

Liaison officer Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan from the Institute of Oral Health Sciences, Dr. Asmar alongside her team, organized a dental camp titled "مضبوط دانت، مضبوط مستقبل" on January 10, 2023, at Madarsah Hamdia Rizvia in collaboration with the Community Dentistry Department of DIKIOHS.
Goodie bags sponsored by Protect Company, containing toothpastes, mouthwash, and mosquito repellent lotion, were distributed. Tongue depressors and gloves were sponsored by "My Dentist Clinic." This initiative ensured that participants received thorough dental check-ups and education on maintaining good oral health, making a significant positive impact on the community.

On the 24th of May, a significant hypertension awareness campaign was held at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), orchestrated by a dedicated team of 20 volunteers. This event aimed to educate and provide health checks to the community, successfully reaching around 60 to 70 patients.

I, Sabeka Khan, along with my team organized a Dental Camp and an Awareness Sessionat JDC Foundation Old Age Home II titled as "Aging with a Smile”. The event commenced with a comprehensive dental hygiene awareness session which covered key topics like Benefits of oral hygiene, Demonstration of proper brushing technique, taking care of the remaining teeth, Explaining the benefits of getting their prosthodontic treatment done, Elaborated the audience ways take care of their dentures and the diet.
To engage them, various educative and fun activities were planned and executed
Each patient received a dental kit containing a toothbrush and toothpaste, promoting personal commitment to oral hygiene sponsored by Heal a Smile along with handmade cards.
This successful event achieved extensive outreach, providing dental check-ups to nearly 45 patients and fostering a deeper understanding of oral healthcare.

I, Liaison Officer Dr Kanwar.M.Saad, had the privilege of organizing the "Radiant Smile Dental Camp" under the flag of APDSA Pakistan Division. This camp was held at the Sahara Old Age Village, Karachi. The aim of the camp was to provide essential dental check-ups and raise awareness about oral hygiene among the elderly residents of Sahara Old Age Village. The activities conducted during the camp included: Dental Check-ups, Oral Hygiene Awareness Session, Interactive Activities, Certificate Distribution. The "Radiant Smile Dental Camp" was a meaningful initiative that not only provided essential dental care but also educated the elderly residents on how to maintain their oral health. The camp concluded on a positive note, with the residents expressing their gratitude and the volunteers receiving well-deserved recognition for their contributions.

1. Introduction
On 24th July 2024, the public health team of APDSA - PK organized a comprehensive awareness and screening event aimed at educating young students of the EOTO street school about oral hygiene and general health practices. The event involved various activities designed to engage and inform students across ages 4-15 while simultaneously conducting oral health screenings.
2. Orientation and Volunteer Grouping
A day before the event, the organizing committee held an online orientation session for the APDSA volunteers to go over the activity layout, event rules and responsibilities. The camp commenced with an orientation led by one of the EOTO staff members, providing an overview of the day's activities and goals. Following the orientation, all 30 volunteers were divided into groups and assigned to various EOTO students. A total of 82 children from EOTO were screened, ranging from Level 0 (very young children) to Level 4 (well-informed students).
3. Oral Screening Stations
Four volunteers were designated to operate two oral screening stations, with two volunteers at each station. The volunteers at these stations both educated the students and performed oral health screenings.
4. Educational Activities
Volunteers engaged students in the following educational activities:
● Oral Hygiene Awareness: Instruction on brushing techniques and the importance of maintaining good oral
hygiene.
● Hand Washing Techniques: Demonstration and explanation of effective hand washing practices.
● Nutritional Education: Discussion on the impact of good and bad food on overall health.
In parallel with these activities, the volunteers conducted oral health screenings to assess the students' current oral health status.
5. Interactive Learning
To make the learning process engaging, the volunteers conducted various interactive activities:
● Coloring Pages: Students colored pages featuring images of teeth.
● Maize and Dot Joining Activities: Activities designed to reinforce the educational content in a fun and
interactive manner.
6. Distribution of Educational Materials
Educational materials were provided to the students and their families through APDSA volunteers:
● Flyers: Informative flyers on oral hygiene in both Urdu and English
● Monthly Brushing Checklists: Tools to help families track their children's brushing habits.
● OPD Forms: Forms for follow-up and additional care if needed.
EOTO volunteers were responsible for distributing these materials to the students' parents to ensure continued awareness and practice at home.
7. Provision of Dental Supplies
Each EOTO student received a hygiene kit consisting of a toothbrush and toothpaste, generously sponsored by
Protect. This was aimed at encouraging students to practice good oral hygiene regularly.
8. Group Photo and Debriefing
A group photo was taken with all the volunteers and students to commemorate the successful completion of the
event. Following the activities, a short debriefing session was held with the volunteers, led by Public Health Officer Dr. Fatima Shahzad. This session provided an opportunity to review the day's events, discuss observations, and provide
feedback.
9. Acknowledgements
To express gratitude for their efforts, certificates and snacks were distributed among the APDSA volunteers. This recognition highlighted the importance of their contribution to the event's success.
10. Conclusion
The event was a successful initiative in promoting oral hygiene and overall health among young students. The collaborative efforts of the APDSA volunteers, EOTO staff, and sponsors helped in achieving the event's objectives and making a positive impact on the students' health education.
DENTAL CAMPS 2025
The Bright Way Dental Camp held at Mehran Association for Rehabilitation and Special Education, Malir cantonment Karachi on 30th September, 2024. Organised by our dedicated liaison officer Anisa Azhar from Dow International Dental College.
In this dental camp 80 children were screened, 59 forms completed, and 15+ parents counselled.

The Empowering Smiles Dental Camp held at Dar ul sukun, Kashmir Road, Karachi on 4th November, 2024. Organised by our dedicated liaison officer from SIOHS @fatimabilwanii In this dental camp around 60-70 children were screened.
